Almost 20 years ago for the first time signed the agreement on cooperation of the faculty of computational mathematics and Cybernetics of Moscow state University and Microsoft. During our joint work over 10 000 students, postgraduates and young researchers from Russia took part in joint projects and activities of Microsoft Research and MSU.
Now begins a new stage in the development of relations Microsoft and MSU. In the framework of cooperation to work start laboratory “Computer graphics and multimedia” under the direction of associate Professor of the faculty of computational mathematics and Cybernetics of MSU Anton Konushin and scientific group under the leadership of Professor Sergei Berezin. Joint work of Microsoft Research and MSU will go in two directions: computer vision and visualization of large data. For development projects, Microsoft provides the whole infrastructure, in particular, scientists use products such as Microsoft Azure, Visual Studio 2013, Team Foundation Server.
In the field of visualization of large data of the laboratory of computational mathematics and Cybernetics of Moscow state University under the guidance of Sergey Berezin already work is underway to services ChronoZoom, FetchClimate, Distribution Modeller that accumulate and analyze huge amounts of information from various fields of knowledge. Scientific group under the leadership of Professor Anton Konushin will work with the projects of computer vision. Thanks to the developed technology can be used to extract information from images or videos. To obtain knowledge can be used for video recording surveillance cameras, 3D and 2D image. The collected information the computer processes and produces output suitable for practical use.
