ESET: new banking Trojan works on the “SaaS”

ESET virus laboratory in Bratislava (Slovakia) warns of the spread of a new Bank of Troyan Dyre. It is oriented to clients of major commercial banks, some of which are presented in Russia. Dyre (Dyreza) is a new family of malware, its characteristics are similar, but not identical known Zeus. New Trojan is detected anti-virus products of ESET NOD32 as Win32/Battdil.A.

Troyan Dyre used by hackers to steal authentication data users banking applications. Established that it is aimed at the Internet-banking, CitiGroup, Bank of America, NatWest, RBS, Ulster Bank and can bypass the SSL encryption and two-factor authentication in these systems.
According to analysts, Dyre covered by the scheme crime-as-a-service (“crime as a service), in which the attackers sell malware, render services for configuring and implementation of cyber-attacks. Victims Dyre received it in spam emails offering to load from a file store Dropbox archive with the accounts or information from the tax service. Subsequently Dropbox deleted the malicious link, but the scammers went on similar service Cubby. The use of file sharing allows an attacker to avoid scanning the URLS.
Dyre injects malicious code into the browser and intercepts data when the victim opens the website of your online Bank. Troyan is compatible with Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer and can masquerade as the download of Flash Player.
The main danger Dyre – in his ability to convince the user that he connects to his Bank via a secure connection, protected by SSL encryption. Meanwhile, the Trojan executes the attack type of man-in-the-middle and intercepts user authentication data.
