The operator VimpelCom (Beeline brand) announced the completion of network upgrades in the St. Petersburg metro. Subscribers of “Beeline” had the opportunity to use mobile Internet on 3G all 65 stations, including transit hubs.

Beeline has started to upgrade the network in the St. Petersburg metro three months ago, announcing the launch of 3G on the first five stations of the fifth (“purple”) lines 23 June. In the course of work carried out by the replacement and installation of additional network equipment to ensure coverage of the 3G network on the escalators and passenger platforms (formerly 3G network was only available in land-based halls). By the end of July high-speed mobile Internet appeared on the 25th, and by mid-August ─ already on the 40 metro stations.
Modernization carried out using Huawei equipment with activation technologies DC HSPA+, which allows to increase the maximum possible data transfer rate of up to 42 Mbps, which provides comfort for the user downloading sites, photos and videos.
