Samsung and Apple lost Lenovo and ASUS in the market of tablets in Russia

According to research firm IDC, for the second quarter of 2014 in Russia was about 1.72 million tablets. This is 9.8% less than in the same period of 2013. In monetary terms, the market declined by 42.2%.

According to the results of the second quarter, the largest supplier was Lenovo, which managed to sell 14% of all delivered during the reporting period, of tablet computers. This is followed by ASUS (11,1%), Samsung (8,8%), Apple (7.6%) and teXet (5.6 percent). Note that the supply Samsung and Apple declined by about two times 1.9 times and 2.1 times, respectively, compared with the previous year. Moreover, Lenovo and ASUS replaced the Samsung and Apple with the first and second places.
The average price of devices continued to decline, reaching 211 dollars. The most popular operating system continues to be Android – its share amounted to 89.7%of it. iOS belongs to 7.6%, while the share of devices on Windows increased to 2.7%.
According to experts, the market of tablet PCs have been two important trends that may adversely affect its dynamics. Most consumers of expensive devices are not in a hurry to replace existing ones, and those who plan on buying a new gadget is often preferred tabletas (devices with a diagonal of 5.5 to 7 inches). Tablets relegated to the background as phones with large displays can perform almost the same tasks as the tablets having less weight and size.
