The Chairman of the Board of Audi’s Rupert Stadler after the Berlin ceremony Urban Future Awards has announced that his company will begin production of unmanned vehicles within two years, to be exact – by 2016.
As noted Stadler, Audi is the leader in the development of unmanned vehicles, while the nearest competitors lag of 1-2 years. However, Audi is not afraid to be a pioneer in this field. The company also sees no fear that competitors will have the opportunity to adopt some of the practices implemented in the first car.
Proof that Audi is about to release on the market of unmanned vehicles can serve the concept of RS 7, which at the end of October did show races on the race track “Hockenheimring” (Hockenheimring). An unmanned vehicle moving on a race track with a speed of 230 km/h and has successfully coped with the declared Audi tasks.
