The authoritative Financial Times reported about a very interesting initiative of Apple and Samsung. As the information of journalists, Apple and Samsung are currently negotiating with representatives of the telecommunications industry concerning the launch of the so-called e-SIM cards that can fundamentally change the method of user interaction with the mobile operators.

Traditional SIM card tied to the network of a specific operator, but the built-in SIM card will allow users of smartphones, tablets or wearable devices to avoid being tied to a specific operator, and instantly switch to another if desired.
As noted by the Financial Times, the GSM Association, representing operators worldwide, is already close to the announcement of the agreement on the production of the standardized embedded SIM cards for consumer devices. It is expected that the project will support large operators such as AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, Hutchison Whampoa, Orange, Telefónica and Vodafone. The project is expected in 2016.
