Panasonic announced the development of a new feature Post Focus, which will allow you to select the focus area after the shooting. Implementing this feature was made possible thanks to the technology of 4K Photos. According to the company, with it users will be able not only to fix the focus on the images on which the autofocus system has “missed” past the desired object, but also to discover new creative possibilities.
Technology DFD (Depth From Defocus / Depth from defocus) and 4K Photo, sale of which was made possible by the image processor Venus Engine, has achieved continuous shooting in 4K resolution at a speed of 30 K/s, the focusing system can be elevated by approximately 50 fields.
Using Post Focus from the captured images, you can choose the frame with the best focus. In addition, this function can be used to achieve artistic effect when shooting landscape or portrait – changing the point of focus, you can transform the mood of a picture. To use the Post Focus is very simple, no matter where it was to focus on original photos: while viewing a picture, tap the point you want to focus on, and a picture with the required parameters will be saved as a single frame.
Panasonic will introduce the function of Focus in Post updating firmware for cameras DMC-GX8, DMC-FZ300 and some other models in late 2015 or spring 2016, and will also consider the possibility of implementing this feature on other digital cameras Lumix.
