Russia starts production of ultra-reliable army of laptops

The press service of the defence industry (the United instrument Corporation), which is part of Rostec, announced the imminent start of production of the new laptop-based use in the tactical units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is arranged in the facilities of a subsidiary of the concern “Constellation”.

The laptop is protected from exposure to extreme temperatures from minus 40 to plus 50 degrees Celsius, mechanical and cyber-attacks. It works under control of operating system Astra Linux, which was created for needs of the Russian army and other security agencies, and possesses a high level of protection of information from cyber attacks and data breaches on both the software and the hardware level. Protection is implemented including transferring data simultaneously in both text and voice formats as well as video conferencing.
The laptop is equipped with modules Wi-Fi, GPS and GLONASS, VGA, HDMI and four USB 3.0 ruggedized. It is based on Intel Core processors of the sixth generation with a clock frequency of 3.5 GHz. The battery life is 8 hours on a single charge. Mass production should begin in the second quarter of 2016.
