DICE officially unveiled Battlefield 1 – new part of the series. At this time the events of the famous shooter will unfold in the midst of the First world war, in whose honor the game and was awarded the unit in the title. The developers emphasize that Battlefield will retain all the advantages of predecessors, destructible (which, according to DICE, had to balance for the sake of convenient gameplay), up to 64 players in multiplayer battles and huge locations.
The battles will take place in various locations – on the Western front, in the deserts of Arabia and even in the mountains of the Alps. In a single DICE promise to reveal the fate of several characters – the face of one of the protagonists can be seen in the teaser and the trailer of the game.
Weapons and vehicles will be consistent with the setting, but the fundamental game mechanics will not change. One of the main differences of the game from the previous parts will be to focus on melee – diversity characteristics and ways of use of weapons in such situations, the assurances of creators, will be “truly spectacular”. In the trailer there is also a noticeable focus on flamethrowers and combat airships.
Battleships will now be able to seriously affect the outcome of the battle, and the tanks and other ground transport will be added to the horses – so far, however, it is not known whether they are prepared for the role “Transporter”, or they can act as effective means to attack. Combat trains will also be involved in the game, and DICE are threatening to pass in the game the horror of the chemical attacks that are typical for WWI. The developers also promised advanced customization system, which is relished by players in the previous parts of the series.
The game is based on Frostbite engine, and uses DirectX technology 12. The release of Battlefield 1 will be held on October 21 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and pre-order the game will be available October 18. Early access will also be included storyline Harlem Hellfighters – 369 infantry regiment, which consisted of black natives of Harlem, who fought in France during the First world war.
More information about the game DICE promises to reveal in June, and also scheduled an open beta test before the release.
