AMD Flute – a hybrid processor with integrated GPU level Radeon RX 5600 XT

In the summer of last year, data about a certain AMD Flute hybrid processor hit the Web. Then there was an assumption that this is a semi-ordered APU for the new generation of Xbox game consoles. The only thing that was then from the details was data on eight cores and frequencies of 1.6-3.2 GHz. Today AMD Flute surfaced again seven months after the first news appeared. A well-known insider shared data on the approximate performance of this solution. He pointed out that the CPU performance is similar to the Ryzen 7 4800U, and the GPU is similar to the Radeon RX 5600 XT. For us, the second option is more interesting.
Given that the Radeon RX 5600 XT is a very powerful graphics card, AMD Flute is unlikely to be the new AMD Ryzen processor. Rather, it is really a semi-custom solution, and it is quite possible for Microsoft. But certainly not for the Xbox Series X, since we already know that the performance of this set-top box is 12 TFLOPS, while the RX 5600 XT has only 7.2 TFLOPS. It can be assumed that this APU will be the heart of a more accessible Microsoft set-top box (Xbox Series S), but, firstly, the existence has not yet been officially confirmed, and secondly, all the early rumors about this console indicated that it would be significantly less productive. However, this is also not an indicator, so it’s worth keeping in mind the above opportunity.
