According to the press center of MV Lomonosov Moscow State University, chemists at Moscow State University are ready to launch a full-scale production of DNA primers for the rapid diagnosis of COVID-19 coronavirus using PCR-based test systems in a week. DNA is the basis of such test systems -oligonucleotides. University experts, together with colleagues from the Russian Academy of Sciences, developed a technology for large-scale synthesis and purification of DNA oligonucleotides. Their production can be launched right now on the basis of Apto-Farm LLC, created by scientists, in quantities sufficient to provide millions of tests.
“Only large-scale production can ensure effective quality control and standardization of produced batches, which, in turn, will reduce the number of so-called false signals,” said Alexei Kopylov, professor at the Department of Chemistry of Natural Compounds of Moscow State University.
It remains to add that the need for such test systems continues after the epidemic.
