The Russian Foundation for Advanced Studies summed up the competition of concepts of the optional-manned vertical take-off aircraft for passenger and freight traffic, which was launched at the end of last year. According to the idea of the organizers, for the simplicity of piloting and the availability of take-off and landing areas, this should be a kind of "flying car".
The winner was the company "PromServis" from the Moscow region, and another prize-winner – "FLASH-M" from Krasnoyarsk. The competition was held in two stages, in total 61 applications from Russian companies, scientific and educational institutions were submitted for the competition. FPI is going to conclude with the winner and prize-winner of the agreement, within which advance projects will be implemented. Based on the results of the work in the fund, it will be decided to launch projects to create a vertical or ultra-short take-off and landing aircraft. As expected, work on the "flying car" will be held in 2018-2020. Financing will be carried out at the expense of FPI funds.
