Samsung Electronics has unveiled its first “human-oriented” LEDs in the LM302N family. According to the manufacturer, the LM302N is characterized by “carefully created light spectra” that help the human body regulate the level of melatonin in the room, making people feel more energetic or relaxed in sync with the rhythm of everyday life.
Recall, the hormone melatonin regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Its production is determined by the effect of the blue part of the light spectrum. Samsung LM302N LEDs by optimizing the amount of blue color meet the lighting requirements at any given time: the LM302N DAY stimulates wakefulness and the LM302N NITE improves relaxation. More specifically, the LM302N DAY LEDs, available in color temperatures from 3000K to 6500K, can lower the level of melatonin in the body by more than 18% compared with “ordinary LED lighting.” These LEDs are suitable for educational institutions, libraries, offices and industrial facilities. LEDs LM302N NITE do not interfere with the production of melatonin, as a result of which the body produces 5% more than with “conventional LED lighting.” These LEDs are offered in options with a color temperature of 1800K to 4000K. Of course, the DAY and NITE options can be combined in one lamp, which will help maintain a natural circadian rhythm around the clock. The color rendering index of the new LEDs is declared as 80 +. The standard dimensions of 3.0 × 3.0 mm allow the LM302N to be used in a wide range of lighting fixtures. LEDs are protected against humidity and heat. They are already mass-produced.
