Google updated its statistics on the prevalence of various versions of the Android operating system on the official site for developers Android Developers. The statistics are for the week ended June 5, 2017.
The Android version of Nougat continues to grow steadily, "dramatically" increasing its share from 7.1% in May to 9.5%. In this case, the share of Android 7.1 Nougat is 0.6%, and the net Android 7.0 Nougat – 8.9%. The most popular version of the OS was Android 6.0 Marshmallow, finally, moving from the pedestal Lollipop. The version of Marshmallow gained 31.2%, retaining the May figure, but the share of Lollipop fell from 32% to 30.8%, moving to second place. Note that Android Lollipop retained leadership since March 2016. In third place – KitKat with 18.1% that is less by 0.8%. The Jelly Bean version gained 8.8%, down 1%. The versions Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread, debuting in December 2010 and in October 2011, both received 0.8%, gradually losing users. Just for comparison, the latest mobile operating system Apple, iOS 10, released in September 2016 already installed on 86% of active devices. Release of the same Android Nougat took place in August 2016.
