Mozilla has released a new version of its desktop browser – Firefox 54. The update described by developers is described as "the best in the history" of Firefox.
The browser version 54 for the first time for Firefox brings content processing technology in different processes, already available in competing browsers such as Chrome, Safari and Edge. It allows you to run more than one process for content processing. As a result, tabs with heavy and complex sites will have less impact on the operation of other tabs and the browser as a whole. By default, four content processor processes are started, but this limit can be changed. As noted by the developers, now Firefox uses significantly less RAM than other browsers in Windows 10, macOS and Linux. The new version of Firefox for Windows, Mac and Linux is available on the official website of the project.
