RosElectronics showed the first samples of personal computers and servers based on microprocessors "Elbrus-8S" at the conference CIPR-2017 (Digital Industry of Industrial Russia), which takes place from 24 to 26 May in Innopolis in Tatarstan.

As the developers promise, the presented technology has increased productivity and guarantees users a high level of information security. The eight-core chip is manufactured using 28 nm technology. In comparison with "Elbrus-4S", the peak performance of the new processor is 3-5 times higher, the bandwidth of the input-output channels is 8 times.

The installation batch of 2- and 4-processor servers based on Elbrus-8S is planned to be released by the end of 2017. These servers are designed to handle large amounts of information, including in real time.

The basic operating system for Elbrus 801-PC and servers is the Elbrus OS. It is built on the Linux kernel and supports many open source applications. For the Elbrus-8S platform, a binary compatibility system with binary codes x86 / x86-64 is provided. Also, it is possible to develop application software, tests for self-diagnostics of equipment.
