Samsung is developing its own graphics core for smartphone processors called S-GPU. This was reported by a Chinese source under the name of the Ice universe in its account in Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
According to the source, the first generation of S-GPU will be used next year in Samsung's flagship processors. Note that Samsung already produces custom processor cores for Exynos. In Exynos 8895, Galaxy S8 and S8 +, for example, installed four custom second-generation kernels and four energy-efficient Cortex-A53 cores. At the same time, according to the schedule, Samsung is still relying on Mali GPU from ARM. If the rumors prove true, then S-GPU will compete with Mali from ARM and Qualcomm Adreno and give Samsung more independence in the production of chipsets.
