Sovereign Runet exercises postponed due to coronavirus

According to RBC, today, March 20, 2020, exercises were to be held to ensure the integrity and stability of Runet, but the planned event was postponed to a later date. The decision to postpone the planned exercises was made by the Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation. At the exercises that were supposed to take place today, it was planned to work out the blocking of traffic encrypted using DNS technologies over HTTPS and TLS. In total, such exercises should be held four times in a year. The next ones planned to be held on June 20, September 20 and December 20.
Last year, the exercises were held in December, in the process they tested the stability of communications, the security of cellular communications, including the protection of personal data and intercepting traffic, the security of using the Internet of Things. The law on sovereign runet entered into force on November 1. He obliges telecom operators to install on their networks the equipment that Roskomnadzor will provide them in order to centrally manage the routing of traffic in the event of a threat to RuNet.
