IDC analysts summed up the fourth quarter of 2019 in the converged systems market. The report they prepared said that the indicated market grew by 1.1% year-on-year and reached $ 4.2 billion. To clarify, IDC refers to converged systems as pre-integrated and vendor-certified systems, including server hardware, storage subsystem, network equipment and basic system software. Being a ready-made, tested solution that supports virtualization and optimized for various tasks, such a system is easily integrated into the existing infrastructure due to a software-defined approach to determining functionality.
Experts distinguish three market segments: Firstly, they are certified reference systems and integrated infrastructure, sales of which during the quarter brought nearly $ 1.3 billion, which is 18.5% less in annual terms and corresponds to 30.7% of the entire market. Secondly, these are integrated platforms, sales of which have not changed much during the year, more precisely, increased by 0.1% to $ 620 million, which corresponds to 14.8% of the market. The third segment is hyper-converged systems. Their sales for the year increased by 17.2% and reached $ 2.3 billion. This segment accounts for 54.5% of the market.
