Yandeks.Navigator learned to mark vacant parking spaces
Recall last year, Navigator began to show parking on the map, and in April began to build special routes to find places where you can leave the car. Now the next step is made – the application has learned to mark parking spaces with special badges that have recently been vacated. Yandeks.Navigator shows the vacant places on the land parking located along the roads and on specially designated territories. Once the space is released, the application allocates it with a green circle, and the user can build a route to it. The tags are stored for five minutes – often during this time the parking lot is occupied. Yandex finds the vacant parking spaces using an algorithm based on machine learning. He analyzes the coordinates of users and data about whether a person is traveling or going. If the algorithm determines that a person left the parking lot by car, instead of boarding, for example, a bus at the nearest stop, the place is marked as free. Coordinates and impersonal data on the nature of the movement Yandex transmit the users themselves. At the moment, Yandex.Navigator shows the vacant parking spaces in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Istanbul. In five other cities of Russia this function works in a test mode. Updated Yandex.Navigator for iOS and Android is available for free download in the App Store and Google Play.
